VCF Academy Canada show support for Valencia region
Coach Isma Fayos talks about the response from the North American academy
Diego López is counting down the days until the start of the pre-season. With barely any time to rest because he has just finished the campaign after playing the Copa de Campeones final for FC Barcelona División de Honor Juvenil where he became last season’s top scorer.
He will be set to start a new challenge on the 12th of July playing for VCF Mestalla under Miguel Ángel Angulo’s orders.
"It’s a unique and beautiful opportunity that I’m going to experience at this great club, full of history, with so many players that have made history” explains Diego López on VCF Media.
“Playing for VCF Mestalla is a beautiful opportunity, it will be a tough season up against other sides with more experienced players, but we’ll face the season with plenty of motivation and enthusiasm and I’m sure we’ll be fighting for promotion. I’m really up for it and looking forward to starting to take on the new challenge”.
It’s a new challenge in the 19 year-old footballing carreer. He started out in his home town, Turón. He developed at Figaredo before moving to Xeitasa and Mareo Sporting Gijón academy where he stood out for his eye for goal which took him to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona youth systems.
He has netted 42 goals over three seasons for the latter where he has showcased his goalscoring prowess and great physicality” I’m an industrious player, every game and every training session, I give it my all on the pitch and I’ll do so now for Valencia CF, the badge and the fanbase. I’m a boy with plenty of work-rate both offensively and defensively and a knack for scoring goals up top but I can also generate many other things”.
